Debrecen is the second largest city of Hungary. It is situated east of Budapest in the northern lowlands. Having been the Hungarian capital on two occasions, Debrecen is the quieter counterpart to Budapest. Things are more relaxed here, but no less cosmopolitan. Debrecen is a beautiful city where 30,000 young people study, many of them from abroad. At least they don't have to do without the carnival here in Debrecen. In August, colorfully decorated flower floats parade through the streets.
