Microsoft has now officially announced the launch date for the cloud version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV: The ERP solution, which is aimed primarily at medium-sized companies, will be available internationally under the name "Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central" starting April 2.

ERP’s new simplicity

As a completely cloud-based ERP solution, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be available only through Microsoft’s Cloud Solution Provider partners. The system offers medium-sized companies an end-to-end scenario for managing finances, operations, sales and customer service. Because the solution is made available completely via the cloud infrastructure, there is none of the cost and effort that normally goes into implementation, maintenance and updates. Microsoft also emphasizes that this makes upgrading from existing legacy systems significantly easier.

Two versions - one all-round solution

As a first step, Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central will be made available in 14 countries worldwide - including Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Austria and Sweden. There are two ways to subscribe to the solution: The "Essential" version includes all core ERP functionalities as well as expanded CRM, supply chain, human resources and project management functions. The "Premium" version offers additional functionalities for service management and manufacturing.

Seamless integration with Office, BI, etc.

The Business Central cloud solution and the Microsoft Dynamics NAV on-premises solution, which was updated last year, let the companies using the solution choose whether to run their standard ERP in-house, as a cloud service, or in a hybrid form. The two enterprise solutions are based on the same code base and offer the same functionality, including the seamless integration of Office 365 and Power BI.

Cloud ERP powered by Dynamics NAV

"Dynamics 365 Business Central brings the full power of Dynamics NAV to the cloud," says Alysa Taylor, General Manager for Business Apps and Strategy at Microsoft. Taylor goes on to say that the solution offers terrific value because it integrates with Microsoft’s successful Office cloud services and it can be easily extended for specific industry needs through the PowerApps concept.

A basis for digital companies

"Cloud services play a crucial role in digital transformation," adds Uwe Bergmann, CEO of COSMO CONSULT, Europe's leading Microsoft Dynamics partner. "Many companies are already taking advantage of the opportunities offered by modern cloud platforms, such as intelligent data processing and automation. With Dynamics 365 Business Central, the proven Microsoft Dynamics NAV technology is finally available to our medium-sized customers as a cloud service."
